雅思作文中很多的问题会让我们去讨论住在城市和乡村的利弊，当我们谈论乡村时，我们经常会说到乡村环境好污染少，但是相对比来说医疗和教育资源比较少。而大城市一般是环境污染比较严重，比如空气污染，噪音污染等等，而且大城市一般人情比较冷漠，生活节奏快；对应的好处可以说到城市生活比较便利，而且享有的公共资源比较多，比如教育和医疗。但是在本题中，题目的论述点在于大城市的生活对人们的健康是否有害，那么就一定要围绕健康展开。

Despite the fact that big cities provide various conveniences to our lives, some people claim that the living standard has been decreasing, especially their personal health. Personally, the merits of city life on peoples well-being overshadow its demerits.

Admittedly, people living in big cities are confronted with both environmental and social pressures, which pose detrimental effects on the urban residents. Compared with the rural areas, big cities have more pollution. The nearby factories are in full operation to satisfy the growing demands, producing numerous contaminants detrimental to peoples health; Besides, the noises from the heavy traffic and the sounds of stores vying for customers attention also affect peoples well-being.

However, various resources available in city provides incomparable superiority. Firstly, big cities, especially the metropolitan ones, tend to enjoy better medical resources including the best hospitals and medical professionals. Therefore, some diseases especially those rare ones can be diagnosed and treated more properly. While in the rural area, several serious diseases may not be treated appropriately and instantly due to the shortage of medical resources, which would lead to detrimental consequences in some occasions. Secondly, urban areas embrace various sports facilities, which provides more approaches for people to exercise. In this way, their physical fitness could be enhanced by working out in the gym or other forms of activities like dancing and swimming. Via these activities, people also can find an outlet to let off steam，which is beneficial to their psychological health as well.

To sum up, although cities pose some potential threat to our health, the medical resources and sports facilities can prolong peoples life span to some degree.
